Starr & Marty [2006-2008]

Starr: (about Marty) Part of me feels bad for her because of what my dad did to her. Then another part of me wants to scream at her for saying that Dr. Truman wasn't sane enough to stand trial. I wish she never came to Llanview.

Marty: (about Spencer) He had a very traumatic childhood.
Starr: So did my dad. Does that mean he shouldn't be punished for what he did to you?

Starr: Dr. Saybrooke, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what my dad did to you.
Cole: Sorry? You did nothing wrong.
Starr: I know. It's my father. And I'm a part of him, you know? And what he did was horrible. I feel so bad about it and whenever I think about it, I feel really sad, because I can't believe that my dad would do something so horrible. And I feel really bad for you, Dr. Saybrooke, that you had to go through something so humiliating. Look, I love my dad. And nothing will ever change that. And I know that he wasn't always a good person.
Marty: Thank you, Starr. You are a very sweet, sensitive and intelligent young lady.

[Starr runs into Marty after Marty/Todd/Blair have forbidden her to see Cole]
Marty: Starr, I'm not happy that you and Cole are miserable. Look, I mean, he won’t even talk to me unless it’s in the language of slamming doors.
Starr: I'm supposed to feel sorry for you now?
Marty: No, no, this is my problem.
Starr: I'm sure Cole would love to know that you think of him as the problem.

Evangeline: Marty, Cole was wrong. He shouldn’t have convinced Starr to leave town.
Marty: Do you think anybody can convince that girl to do anything she doesn’t want to do?

Cole: My mom has lost her mind. But she swears she knows what she's doing.
Starr: That's what all crazy people say.

[Starr and Cole are going swimming at La Boulaie]
Marty: Your aunt Dorian’s going to be there, right?
Starr: Of course -- her and her million maids. Believe me, life at her house is like Big Brother there -- eyes everywhere.

Starr: I know that things between you and my mom are still a mess. But thank you for letting me and Cole be together.
Marty: You're welcome, sweetie. You know, the history between me and your parents should never have anything to do with you and Cole.

Marty: What’s so funny?
Starr: (giggling) I was just thinking what my mom would say if she saw the two of us having a soda together.

[Marty "meets" Starr for the first time following her amnesia; at this point, Starr's baby Hope is presumed dead]
Cole: Mom, this is -- this is Starr. Todd is --
Marty: Her father, I know. Forgive me if I offended you.
Starr: No, I agree. I've been dealing with my dad my whole life and I know what he's -- what he does to people. If it helps at all, I don't think he understood what he was doing. He can't help but to lie to everyone about everything. But to lie to you when you lost your memory, it was just the worst, and I am very sorry for that.
Marty: It's okay. I'm so sorry for Hope.
Starr: Thank you.
Marty: She was aptly named. Look at us, we've all lost hope.
